For this project we were given the task of designing the ideal wallet for our partner. To do so we began by getting to know our partner on a more personal level. We discussed what they liked about their current wallet and what they would like to have improved. In our conversations we tried to get a feel for what was important for our partner like if they valued style, durability, comfort, etc. Then we started to draft an initial model and received feedback from our partner. After taking into consideration what our partner wanted tweaked, we came up with our final design. Our next step was to turn that design into a physical prototype using basic materials. After the wallets were made we presented our partners wallets to the class.
What I took away from this small project was the importance of understanding your client. If you can understand your client on a personal level and empathize with them, then you can create a better product.
