Course Name:
Introduction to Global Education Policy and Analysis

Course Learning Objective:
Identify, describe, and analyze contemporary global education challenges and policy alternatives.

How this assignment meets the course learning objective:
This assignment demonstrates my ability to critically examine contemporary global education challenges through a focused analysis of India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The paper outlines the key problems NEP 2020 aims to address—such as rote learning, poor foundational literacy, and the employability gap—and evaluates how these challenges reflect broader global education issues. I examined systemic barriers such as socioeconomic inequality, infrastructural deficits, and outdated curricula that hinder educational equity and quality in India. Drawing upon empirical data, policy frameworks, and implementation challenges, the paper applies a diagnostic approach to identify not just surface-level concerns but also their root causes.

In addition to identifying challenges, the assignment analyzes three global policy alternatives—Finland’s student-centered model, Singapore’s SkillsFuture initiative, and Germany’s dual vocational education system. I assessed their relevance to the Indian context by comparing governance structures, funding mechanisms, and sociocultural compatibility. This comparative analysis helped me understand the complexities of policy transfer, especially when addressing context-specific factors such as political resistance and resource limitations. My final recommendations proposed a hybrid model that draws selectively from these international frameworks to improve NEP 2020’s implementation, demonstrating both policy literacy and adaptive thinking.
