This was a lab in the ECE 3101 Signals and Systems class. We utilized MATLAB to filter images. We were tasked with changing the quantization and size of an image in Part I, In Part II we were tasked with using a two-dimensional lowpass filter and a high pass filter to enhance an image.
The first part displays quantization and how it plays a role in data transmission. It also reinforces the idea that an image can be shrunken or enlarged through pixel replication. The second part showed that image enhancement can be obtained by assigning a weight to pixels and altering adjacent pixels to “smooth out” or “sharpen” an image.
