Within two years, from 1969 to 1971, Wayne Clifford Boden murdered four women in Canada—three in the city of Montreal and one in Calgary. Boden would break into these women's homes, rape them, and murder them. By fiber evidence, odontological evidence, and a single cufflink left at one of the scenes, police could place Boden at all four scenes. He was convicted in 1972 and was sentenced to life in prison for his crimes. In 2006, Boden died of skin cancer while incarcerated.

Not long after Boden was convicted, one of America's most notorious serial killers emerged. Ted Bundy kidnapped, raped, and murdered multiple women across several US states from 1974 to 1978. Bundy was initially apprehended in 1975 but escaped prison in 1977. By fiber evidence, odontological evidence, and eye-witness testimony, Bundy was once again arrested in 1978 and was sentenced to death. In 1989, Bundy was executed via the electric chair.
