I received the CVS welcome packet when I started my training as a pharmacy technician at CVS Pharmacy. The packet outlined the modules I had to complete as well as virtual classes I had to attend. It outlined the steps I had to take to complete my training as a pharmacy technician to prepare for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE). It also gave me information about the company itself as well as policies that I should be aware of. The packet walked me through what I should expect as a newly hired pharmacy technician at CVS Pharmacy.
From this welcome packet, I had a schedule made to complete all my required trainings in a timely manner. I learned the responsibilities of being a pharmacy technician. Many of my trainings were based on patient care which is a crucial part of being a pharmacy technician. I used the knowledge from the trainings when I was working behind the counter. As patients approached, I followed the proper procedure such as asking the patient for their name and birth date for verification. I inputed the information on the computer and I verified insurance information. I also informed the patients on how to take their prescriptions if they had any questions. Questions that I could not answer were referred to the pharmacist on duty. I always refer back to my trainings as well as the pharmacist whenever I have questions. From my training so far, I have learned how to use the system on the computer, maintain professionalism with the staff and patients, and understand the workflow of the pharmacy.
The welcome packet is very useful to me because it keeps me on track so that I can have a timeline of when my tasks should be completed. I am making great progress to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam so that I can be a certified pharmacy technician.
